Police SUV crashes into car, fence during chase in Northeast Philly
May 11, 2026
Police crashed an SUV into a car and then through the fence of a Northeast Philadelphia home while chasing after suspects who were wanted out of New Jersey, police said.
The crash occurred on Monday, May 11, shortly before 11:30 a.m. along Torresdale and Sheffield avenues. NBC10 obtained two vid
eos of a black SUV striking a white vehicle and then crashing through the fence of a home.
“I just wake up and I start getting ready and I hear a big noise,” Judith Del Rosario, who lives in the home, told NBC10. “The house shook so hard. For a second I thought, ‘Don’t tell me we have another plane crash around here.'”
Footage from SkyForce10 showed both damaged vehicles, the damaged fence as well as several Philadelphia and Trenton police officers at the scene.
A Trenton Police lieutenant told NBC10 the officers were pursuing suspects out of Trenton, New Jersey, at the time of the crash. The lieutenant did not reveal what the suspects were wanted for, only saying the pursuit was part of a state police investigation.
Jeff Campbell, who lives in Northeast Philadelphia, told NBC10 he was about to cross the street when he saw police chasing after the suspects.
“I was attempting to cross the street and a car was slowing down from the red light. It was my turn to cross and a speeding car came by, over 100 miles an hour,” Campbell said. “A little black, possibly Nissan. Then it was my turn to cross the street. And then somebody pulled out in front of the police car. And then the police car hit the car pulled out in front of the police car.”
Campbell said a man who was inside the white vehicle that was struck by the police car was injured.
“He was on the ground in front of his car. He didn’t get out the driver’s side. The driver’s door was smashed so bad, he had to get out of the passenger side,” Campbell said. “And then I believe he passed out. So he was laying on the ground in front of his own car. But the speeders, the criminals from Trenton, they got away.”
The Trenton officer and the person inside the car that was crashed into were taken to nearby hospitals where they were treated for minor injuries and then released, police said.
Police continue to search for the suspects who fled the scene. They have not released a description of them.
