(KRON) -- A man was arrested on Saturday night after allegedly stabbing someone during a violent altercation in the self-checkout area of a Redwood City Safeway. The Redwood City Police Department said it received several 911 calls reporting an altercation involving a stabbing and possible shooting at the Safeway located at 1071 El Camino Real. Arriving at the scene, officers were directed to the suspect by witnesses and detained him without incident. He was identified as 31-year-old Isidro Zamora-Cisneros of Redwood City. Redwood City Fire Department personnel also responded and provided medical assistance to the victim. Further investigation revealed that two victims were in the store's self-checkout area when the suspect approached the male victim and began assaulting him with the knife, apparently at random. The other victim, a woman, used a shopping cart to try and fend off the attacker. At some point police said the male victim pulled out a gun and fired off a single round. The suspect then took off into the parking lot where he was ultimately detained. The round that was fired struck a computer monitor inside the store. Zamora-Cisneros was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility and charged with: Attempted murder Possession of methamphetamine Under the influence of a controlled substance Possession of narcotic paraphernalia Police say that at this time, it's not clear if the victims knew each other prior to the incident. Investigators do not believe additional suspects are involved and there is no ongoing threat to the public. ...read more read less
