The crash occurred on Monday, May 11, shortly before 11:30 a.m. along Torresdale and Sheffield av
enues. NBC10 obtained video of a black SUV striking a white vehicle and then crashing through the fence of a home. Footage from SkyForce10 showed both damaged vehicles, the damaged fence, and several police officers at the scene.
While investigators have not said what led to the incident, Jeff Campbell, a witness who lives near the scene of the crash, told NBC10 police were pursuing suspects who were involved in an incident in Trenton, New Jersey.
“I was attempting to cross the street and a car was slowing down from the red light. It was my turn to cross and a speeding car came by, over 100 miles an hour,” Campbell said. “A little black, possibly Nissan. Then it was my turn to cross the street. And then somebody pulled out in front of the police car. And then the police car hit the car pulled out in front of the police car.”
Campbell said a man who was inside the vehicle that was struck by the police car was injured.
“He was on the ground in front of his car. He didn’t get out the driver’s side. The driver’s door was smashed so bad, he had to get out of the passenger side,” Campbell said. “And then I believe he passed out. So he was laying on the ground in front of his own car. But the speeders, the criminals from Trenton, they got away.”
Officials have not revealed the injured man’s condition or if anyone else was hurt in the crash.
