PGA Championship brings road closures, parking limits to Delco community
May 10, 2026
A busy week is ahead in Delaware County as the PGA Championship is set to take place at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square.
Road closures, parking restrictions and heavy traffic are expected throughout the area starting Monday, May 11. Closures near the course will be in effect daily from 4 a.
m. to 10 p.m. through Sunday, May 17.
“I think tomorrow is when everything will be mayhem around here,” said Connor Goggin, who lives across the street from the course.
Residents like Goggin will still be able to access certain roads, but most drivers will not.
“It’s exciting. Parking is going to be an issue, but other than that we are excited about it. It’s going to be a cool event,” Goggin said.
There will be no on-site parking at Aronimink Golf Club. Instead, attendees must use pre-paid parking lots with shuttle service to the course. Even rideshare users will need to go to designated lots and take a shuttle.
Parking elsewhere in the area will be difficult, with restrictions posted on nearby streets.
SEPTA is adding trips on the Paoli/Thorndale Regional Rail Line to accommodate the influx of visitors. Shuttle buses will also run from stations, but riders must have a PGA ticket. Parking at those stations is reserved for regional rail users.
Local businesses are preparing for an influx of customers during what is already a busy time of year.
“May is already the busiest month of the year. It’s going to be isnane. So we are just tyring to staff up and get everything planned ahead as best we can,” said Matt D’Ottaviano of La Scala’s Fire.
Restaurants nearby say they are increasing staff and inventory to handle the crowds.
“We’re just putting on a bunch more staff and ordering a ton more food,” D’Ottaviano said.
At Napa Kitchen and Wine, staff are also expecting a surge in visitors.
“We are expecting a lot of hungry folks coming over from the championship this week,” said David Trout.
Event organizers say the 2026 PGA Championship is projected to generate more than $125 million in economic impact, drawing visitors from across the country.
“We’re looking to entertain some folks who have maybe never been to the community before or new to the Philadelphia area we are looking to make a great impression on them,” Trout said.
