2 Oakland police officers, suspect injured after traffic stop ends in shooting

Two Oakland police officers and a suspect ended up in the hospital Friday following a traffic stop in which the suspect attempted to flee and an officer opened fire, police said.
The incident played out at about 3:15 a.m. along the 1200 block of 9th Avenue, according to police.
While conductin
g a traffic stop, officers spotted a firearm in the vehicle, police said. The suspect proceeded to flee, dragging one officer and pinning the other between the suspect’s vehicle and a parked car. One of the officers opened fire, striking the suspect.
Both officers were taken to a local hospital and listed in stable condition, police said. The suspect also was hospitalized in stable condition.
Both officers will be placed on paid administrative leave, in accordance with the police department’s policy.
The police department, Alameda County District Attorney’s Office and the Community Police Review Agency will conduct independent investigations into the incident.
