RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Virginia State Police seized over $2.5 million worth of narcotics this week as part of an ongoing crime suppression initiative. According to state police, the operation, which is in partnership with supporting federal and local agencies, saw authorities seize over 100 pound s of marijuana and a total of five firearms, valued at $2,500, during the week of Wednesday, April 29, to Tuesday, May 5. Authorities shared the following breakdown of the recovered narcotics, which includes: 35.1 pounds of cocaine 2.4 ounces of crack cocaine 105 pounds of marijuana 1.6 pounds of fentanyl 8.1 pounds of methamphetamine "The Virginia State Police remain steadfast in their mission to enhance public safety and uphold the laws throughout the Commonwealth while supporting the Governor’s initiatives on violent crime," police said in a May 8 press release.
