RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A man has been charged in the deadly crash that killed Valentine director William "Bill" Martin in December 2025. Authorities with the Richmond Police Department announced on Thursday that 38-year-old Harry McCray of the Moseley area was charged in Martin's death. The 71-ye ar-old was hit and killed on East Broad Street on Dec. 27, 2025. Police said McCray surrendered at the Richmond Justice Center on Thursday. He is facing several charges in the deadly incident, including: Failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk Careless driving and infliction of death on a vulnerable road user Driving while license is suspended or revoked MORE: Hundreds paid tribute to former Valentine Museum director Bill Martin McCray appeared in court for an arraignment on the morning of Friday, May 8, and as of reporting is being held without bond. Future hearings have not been set. At around 12:03 p.m. on Dec. 27, 2025, police responded to the intersection of East Broad and North 10th streets for a report of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian. They found Martin down and injured in the eastbound lanes of East Broad Street. He died the next day due to his injuries, according to police. Authorities said that McCray remained at the scene after the crash.
