NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 23-year-old Portsmouth man is facing charges after a vehicle pursuit in New Kent County that exceeded speeds of 150 mph. On Monday, April 27, deputies with the New Kent County Sheriff's Office monitoring Interstate 64 westbound near the Route 33 exit saw a black Che vrolet Corvette driver going over 100 mph. After activating emergency lights and siren, deputies tried to pull the vehicle over. However, the driver reportedly would not stop, instead continuing on I-64 and exceeding 150 mph. The driver passed other vehicles by driving through coned-off construction areas and made abrupt lane changes, according to the sheriff's office. A mile away from the Route 249 exit, deputies used a tire deflation device and the vehicle slowed down, hit a guardrail and stopped in the median near the weigh station in Henrico County. Authorities said the driver exited the vehicle and ran away on foot. Though the suspect was not arrested that evening, deputies said that on Wednesday, April 29, 23-year-old Ly’Quan Gerod Harrigan of Portsmouth was arrested, with assistance from the Portsmouth Police Department. Harrigan was charged with the following: Felony eluding Reckless driving Driving on a suspended license Hit and run Even though Harrigan initially received no bond upon his arrest, he was later arraigned on Monday, May 4 in New Kent County General District Court.
