Update 05/05/2026 CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte–Mecklenburg Police Department has identified the victim in the April 19th homicide. Zaquez Samprese Blakley, 24 has been identified as the victim. CMPD has classified the homicide that occurred on April 19 as justified and has decided no to char ge anyone in the case. Original Report: 04/19/2026 CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police are investigating a deadly shooting in west Charlotte. Around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to Dundeen Street near Beatties Ford Road in regards to a shooting into an occupied dwelling. According to police, two people exchanged gunfire and one residence was struck. One of the people involved in the shooting went to the hospital by personal vehicle with a gunshot wound. That person later died at the hospital. No injuries were reported in connection to the home that was struck by gunfire, police said. Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene of the shooting to collect evidence. This remains an ongoing investigation.
