DENVER An armed man wanted in connection with an earlier shooting was shot multiple times by police in downtown Denver early Sunday morning.No officers were injured, and the suspect was listed as stable at a hospital, according to Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas.Thomas said two officers shot the man after he refused to drop a gun during a foot chase on 16th Street.The initial shooting occurred just before 2 a.m. near 16th and California streets. One person was shot in that incident and was also listed as stable at a hospital.Thomas said officers responding to the earlier shooting were directed toward a suspect moving between California and Stout streets.Officers followed the suspect into an apartment vestibule, saw he was armed, and opened fire when he didnt drop the weapon, according to Thomas.He said a multiagency investigation is now underway, overseen by the Office of the Independent Monitor.Details surrounding the earlier shooting are not known at this time. ...read more read less
