TONIGHT
Clouds continue to thin out this evening, and with lighter winds settling in, temperatures fall quickly overnight. Lows reach the upper 30s in Indianapolis, with colder pockets around central Indiana dipping low enough for frost by daybreak. A light north north
west breeze fades to near calm, and this is another night to protect any tender plants that have already made it outside.
TOMORROW
A better looking day overall, with some sunshine early giving way to increasing clouds as the day goes on. Highs climb into the low 60s, and a southwest breeze around 10 to 15 mph will gust at times into the low 20s. Most of the day stays dry, but a brief shower could pop up later in the afternoon, so it is a decent day for outdoor plans, just not a perfect one from start to finish.
TOMORROW NIGHT
Mostly cloudy and milder, with a few isolated showers possible in the evening and again late overnight. Lows settle near the low 50s, and a south southwest wind around 10 mph keeps the air from cooling off much. It does not look like a washout, but this is where the quiet weekend pattern starts to loosen up.
MONDAY
Milder and breezy with at least some sunshine for part of the day, then a better chance for showers and thunderstorms arrives later in the afternoon. Highs reach the mid 70s, with a south southwest wind around 10 to 15 mph and gusts up to the mid 20s. Most of the daytime still looks workable, but by late day the forecast gets more active and outdoor plans will need some flexibility.
MONDAY NIGHT
This is one of the more active periods of the stretch. Scattered showers and thunderstorms remain in the picture overnight, with lows near 60 and a south southwest breeze around 10 mph. A few stronger storms are possible, and the broader signal suggests hail and gusty winds would be the main concerns if anything stronger develops, so this is a good night to have alerts on before bed.
TUESDAY
The wettest part of the forecast arrives here. Expect showers around through the day, with thunderstorms possible as well, especially later in the afternoon. Highs stay cooler, in the upper 60s, with a southwest breeze around 10 to 15 mph and gusts near 25 mph. It is a damp, gray kind of day that will make outdoor plans much tougher to work around.
TUESDAY NIGHT
Showers and a few thunderstorms continue into the evening before the steadiest rain begins to ease later at night. Lows drop into the upper 40s, and winds turn from the west to north as cooler air starts to work in. Roads may stay wet for much of the night, and this is where the cooler side of the pattern begins to take over again.
WEDNESDAY
Still unsettled and cooler, with mostly cloudy skies and more showers possible through the day. Highs only reach the upper 50s, with a north wind around 5 to 10 mph. Compared with Monday, this will feel much more raw and much less springlike, especially with the lingering dampness.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Mostly cloudy with another chance for showers, and even a rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out. Lows settle into the mid 40s, with a light north northeast breeze. The pattern is trying to slowly improve, but it has not fully shut the door on the wet weather yet by this point.
7 DAY FORECAST
The main weather story is the shift from a chilly Saturday night and a decent Sunday into a much wetter early to middle part of next week. Rain chances ramp up in stages Sunday night and Monday, then peak Monday night through Tuesday, with rain lingering into Wednesday as a front pushes through. The Indianapolis forecast discussion also points to about one half inch to locally one inch of rain with this system, and while a few stronger storms are possible late Monday into Monday night, the broader signal leans more toward a soaking rain event than a high end severe setup. Temperatures briefly recover into the 70s Monday, then fall back into the 60s Tuesday and 50s by Wednesday, with cooler nights returning in the middle and later part of the week.
