May 02, 2026
An updated report from the National Weather Service was issued on Saturday at 2:25 p.m. for fire danger until Sunday at 6 a.m. for Northern Warren and Southeast Warren as well as Saratoga, Washington, Schenectady, Albany, Rensselaer, Greene, Columbia, Ulster and Dutchess counties."The combination of
drying fine fuels, northwest wind gusts between 25 and 30 mph, and relative humidity values between 25 and 35% will contribute to an elevated risk of fire spread Sunday afternoon for portions of the mid and upper Hudson Valley, eastern Catskills, Taconics and Greater Capital District regions in eastern New York. As a reminder, the annual statewide burn ban remains in effect until May 14. No burn permits are issued. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources such as machinery or matches and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose of cigarette butts. Please refer to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation website for more information on burn restrictions," adds the weather service.
