(KRON) -- A former prison guard was sentenced to serve 52 months in prison for sexually abusing a female inmate at Federal Correction Institution Dublin in the East Bay, and lying to federal agents about his crimes. Ex-Bureau of Prisons correctional officer Jeffrey Wilson was sentenced Friday by U .S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers. Wilson, 34, of Eureka, Calif., pleaded guilty on Aug. 7, 2025, to five counts of sexual abuse of a ward, and one count of making a false statement to federal agents. Wilson is the ninth correctional officer to have either pleaded guilty or been convicted at trial in connection to rampant sexual abuse of FCI Dublin inmates. Inmates said the former warden, Ray J. Garcia, created a "rape club" within the federal prison, located across the street from Santa Rita Jail. Abuse committed by officers was so widespread that the all-women's prison was shuttered and closed down entirely by BOP officials in 2024. Federal law prohibits sexual contact between prison guards and inmates, and inmates cannot legally give consent. Wilson was employed from July 2021 to September 2022 as a correctional officer at FCI Dublin.  He was responsible for providing emergency assessment and medical care to inmates. Wilson sexually abused an inmate who needed medication for preventing seizures, prosecutors said. He also gave the victim a pre-paid credit card and cellphone. "The victim used that cellphone to take naked pictures of herself and send them to Wilson. When he was interviewed by special agents from the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General, Wilson falsely stated that he never had sexual contact with the victim inmate and that he had never given her contraband," the United States Attorney Northern District of California wrote. Other ex-FCI Dublin prison guards charged in the massive scandal include 55-year-old Darrell Wayne Smith, who was nicknamed “Dirty Dick Smith” by inmates. Nakie Nunley 49, of Fairfield, and Andrew Jones, 38, of Pleasanton, pleaded guilty to sexually abusing inmates and lying to investigators. John Bellhouse, 43, of Pleasanton, was convicted by a jury for abusing inmates. Garcia, 59, was convicted by a jury for sex abuse and lying to FBI agents. ...read more read less
