PHOTOS: Trooper injured after driver hit VSP vehicle on I95 in Hanover

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A trooper was injured after a sedan hit a Virginia State Police vehicle on Interstate 95 in Hanover County Friday morning.
At around 5:37 a.m. on Friday, May 1, troopers with Virginia State Police responded to a crash on I-95 southbound that left two people injured, i
ncluding a trooper.
According to authorities, troopers were on scene conducting a separate crash investigation at the time of the incident. A trooper was in the left travel lane providing traffic control, and another trooper was on the left shoulder. Both had emergency lights on.
A 2021 Nissan Rogue traveling southbound in the left lane hit the marked Virginia State Police vehicle, injuring one of the troopers and the driver. Both were taken to VCU Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The other trooper on scene and the driver invovled in the initial crash that troopers responded to were not injured, per the Virginia State Police.
The agency urged motorists and drivers to move over a lane when approaching emergency vehicles displaying flashing lights under Virginia's Move Over Law, designed to protect first responders and roadway workers. If changing lanes is not possible, drivers must slow down.
