A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Atlanta, Georgia, was delayed after a passenger refused to hang up a phone call before takeoff, forcing the aircraft to return to the gate. Delta Flight 1323 was departing from Miami International Airport Monday evening when a person in business class ignored re peated instructions from crew members to end their cellphone call while the plane was taxiing to the runway and became “disruptive,” the airline said in a statement. Video from the flight shows several travelers urging the woman to follow instructions and to “please be considerate” of others. As the exchange continued, frustration spread through the cabin, with one passenger heard chanting, “Get off the plane.” A passenger on the flight who was sitting nearby told WAGA-TV in Atlanta that the woman was using profanity toward the flight attendants and those seated around her as they tried to get her to hang up her call. Flight attendants eventually announced that the aircraft would have to return to the gate so the disruptive passenger can get off. But once the plane was at the gate, the woman refused to leave and police were called. A Delta crew member then announced that all passengers would need to deplane, sparking anger among the more than 160 passengers onboard. “So, we’re all supposed to listen and [she] doesn’t?” another person can be heard saying. She eventually tried to deplane with the other passengers and was arrested on a charge of trespassing after a warning, according to Miami-Dade County court records. The 39-year-old Georgia woman may also face additional charges for violating federal aviation laws, including interfering with the duties of a crew member. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, failing to follow crew instructions or engaging in disruptive or violent behavior on a plane can result in jail time, fines and travel restrictions.  Atlanta 23 hours ago ‘I want off': Passenger tries to open plane door after Delta flight delayed Air Travel Apr 28 Passengers help woman deliver baby after she goes into labor on Delta flight Delta spokesman Jay Blackman said the airline maintains a strict stance on such incidents, noting, “The safety of our customers and crew comes before all else, and Delta has zero tolerance for disruptive behavior. We apologize to our customers for this experience and delay in their travels.” FlightRadar24 data confirms the aircraft left the taxiway and returned to the gate before departing roughly an hour behind schedule. After the passenger was escorted off, the flight continued to Atlanta without further issues.
