(KRON) -- Polarizing right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk was shot and killed while holding a campus event at Utah Valley University last September. Despite his assassination, Kirk's name is probably bigger than ever when he was alive. One Southern California city has even gone to the lengths of ren aming a street after Kirk. Westminster has renamed a street between Westminster Boulevard and 13th Street to "Charlie Kirk Way" and "All American Way." Photos of the newly implemented street signs can be viewed below. Westminster also considered making October 14 "Charlie Kirk Day," which reportedly passed earlier this year. Westminster Mayor Charlie Nguyen expressed full support for the renaming of the street. "As Mayor, I am proud that Westminster, CA is the first city in the country to dedicate an official Charlie Kirk Way. We honor Charlie for his faith, his love of country and his devotion to his amazing family. We are inspired by @mrserikakirk and all she’s done to carry on Charlie’s work," Nguyen wrote in a social media post. Although California voted overwhelmingly Democratic in the 2024 Presidential election, Orange County voted a bit more evenly between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. The county voted roughly 49% for Harris and 47% for Trump. Kirk was 31 years old at the time of his death, just about a month before his 32nd birthday.
