OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) -- Popular arcade bar chain Dave Buster's is opening very soon in Oakland's Jack London Square. The grand opening will take place on Monday, May 4 at 55 Harrison St., it was announced in a press release. Dave Buster's in Oakland spans across 33,714 square feet, slightly sm aller than the Santa Rosa and Daly City locations, which are roughly 42,000 square feet, respectively. The first 100 guests for next Monday's grand opening will receive free video game play for the day, the press release states. (KRON4 Photo) Largest H Mart in US is opening in Bay Area Hours for the Oakland location are from 11 a.m. to midnight on Monday to Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Wednesday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to midnight. The opening, which KRON4 first reported in January 2025, has been in the works for years. The Harrison Street space was initially supposed to be a food hall, but the pandemic derailed those plans. Dave Buster's adds more options to one of Oakland's premier nightlife destinations. Just two blocks down the street is longtime arcade bar Plank. "Jack London has always been a place for us to hang out, so Dave Buster's coming, I know they're all out at other places, but for it to be right here in Oakland, it's awesome," said Berkeley resident Mark Hall. Others have mixed views While critics tell KRON4 off-camera, they prefer a grocery store they can walk to since the neighborhood already has Plank. But some hope this new addition will bring more foot traffic to the area. Oakland Councilmember Carroll Fife is excited about an establishment like Dave Buster's potentially bringing more business to the city. "This project has been in the works for years and is an example of businesses believing and investing in Oakland," Fife said in a statement. "We will continue to support and choose businesses that support and choose Oakland. Happy to welcome Dave and Busters!" There are five other Dave Buster’s locations in the Bay Area: Daly City, Milpitas, Concord, Santa Rosa and Fairfield.
