Weather pattern changes: more rain and cool air for Colorado
Apr 25, 2026
Starting tonight, expect a noticeable shift to cooler and slightly more humid conditions compared to the past few days. Temperatures have already dropped quite a bit since yesterday, and with a bit more moisture in the air, thin
gs wont feel as dry. Winds will gradually turn easterly, helping bring in that moisture, and you may see a few light, scattered showers this evening. Most places will stay dry, though, and any rain that does fall should be pretty light. Sunday looks more active as moisture continues to build in from both the south and the Pacific. That added moisture, combined with a passing weather disturbance, will likely lead to more widespread showers and a few afternoon thunderstorms. Some of these storms could briefly turn strong, bringing gusty winds, lightning, and possibly small hail. Rainfall will generally be light to moderate, but a few spotsespecially out on the northeast plainscould pick up heavier bursts under storms. In the mountains, itll be cold enough for snow above about 8,500 feet, where a few inches could accumulate and make travel a bit slick. By early Monday, a cold front will move through, bringing breezy north to northwest winds that could gust up to 30 to 45 mph. After the front passes, winds will shift again and could help spark a few more showers, especially near the foothills, with activity drifting out onto the plains later in the day. That said, theres also a chance the atmosphere dries out just enough to limit how much rain actually develops. Wet weather returns, temps staying cool in DenverFrom late Monday into Tuesday, another weak system moves overhead, keeping the chance for scattered showers around. This wont be a washout, but expect off-and-on periods of light rain with plenty of dry time in between. The overall pattern stays unsettled, meaning clouds and occasional showers remain in the picture rather than a steady stretch of clear, warm weather.Looking toward the second half of the week, the cooler and somewhat damp pattern sticks around, though confidence in the exact timing of showers drops off. There may be another system passing to the south later in the week that could bring a few more chances for precipitation, but right now it looks like the better chances will stay south of the area. Overall, expect a quieter stretch with mostly light precipitation and occasional breaks, rather than any major storms.DENVER WEATHER LINKS: Hourly forecast | Radars | Traffic | Weather Page | 24/7 Weather StreamClick here to watch the Denver7 live weather stream.
