One person died in a single-vehicle crash in Caldwell County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. It happened around 11:50 p.m. Friday night on Connelly Springs Road near Baton Church Road near Granite Falls, North Carolina. Troopers said a 2013 Ford Taurus was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center line and struck a tree. The driver, 39-year-old Roy Byrd, died at the scene.
