CONCORD, N.C. – Police arrested a 17-year-old in connection to a shooting at a park in Concord that left one person dead and another injured. Around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the parking lot area of Hartsell Park off Sunderland Road SW in regards to a shooting. According to police , the suspect, 17-year-old Yanixan Silva, agreed to meet with two 16-year-olds at the park to purchase something they were selling through social media. Police said a brawl broke out and Silva fired a gun at the victims. One victim died at the scene. The other was seriously injured and transported to the hospital. Silva was arrested Friday and will be charged as an adult. He is charged with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, and failure to report a death.
