Christopher Gillum, a former police officer from North Carolina, was arrested at a hotel in Florida with a handgun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
Gillum was arrested Wednesday night, April 22, at a hotel in Destin, where deputies recovered a handgun and 200 rounds of ammunition.

The timeline of the arrest coincides with the upcoming New Orleans Jazz Heritage Festival, which is from April 23 to April 26 and April 30 to May 3.
Gillum was wanted by the Department of Public Safety for terroristic threats, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff‘s Office, NBC News reported.
The sheriff’s office was contacted by federal authorities regarding a male traveling from North Carolina heading to carry out a mass shooting at a “large festival” in Louisiana, NBC News also reported.
Gillum was arrested as a fugitive from justice and will be extradited to Louisiana to face charges, PBS News reported. The Louisiana State Police is investigating the incident alongside the FBI.
Gillum’s family reported him missing on Tuesday, April 21, and said he has a history of self-harm. Gillum’s family also told law enforcement he had a gun and expressed threats to harm people, PBS News also reported.
