Armed robbers steal more than $1M from Brinks armored truck, Philly police say

The FBI and police are investigating a Brinks armored truck robbery in Northeast Philadelphia.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 21, shortly before 9:45 a.m. Police said two men armed with assault rifles robbed a Brinks truck on the 7200 block of Torresdale Avenue. The suspects fled the sce
ne with more than $1 million, sources told NBC10.
“I seen the guy with the gun. He had the gun pointed at the guy, just for like a second,” a witness told NBC10. “That seems like an inside job to me. That’s a lot of money. That’s an inside job. That’s all I can say.”
No one was injured during the incident, according to police.
Investigators said they later found the suspected getaway vehicle under I-95 near Fairmount Avenue and Hancock Street. They took the vehicle away Tuesday afternoon.
No arrests have been made and police have not released a description of the suspects. The FBI has taken the lead on the case.

Last year, there were several armored truck robberies in the Philadelphia region, including three robberies and one attempted robbery that were connected to the same suspect, officials said.
