RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A man is dead after police said he drowned in the James River in Richmond Saturday evening. At around 5:11 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, officers with the Richmond Police Department were called to the James River for the report of a drowning. Officers arrived and assisted res ponders from Richmond Fire and EMS' River Rescue. During the response, officials said a man was found and taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said the incident was being investigated as an accidental drowning, and officials continue to investigate.
