The fire had spread to a neighboring home, and while there are no reported injuries, eight people are displaced, according to officials. Crews were able to place the fire under control at 3:48 a.m. NBC10 spoke with Tim, a resident on the street, who was awoken by neighbors after the fire broke out. “I was sleeping, and I heard a lot of noise, and the neighbors were hollering and banging on doors. Next thing, they were banging on mine,” Tim said. Tim added that at least one of the homes that caught fire had been previously boarded up by the city. The American Red Cross shared in a statement that they are providing support to the family of eight following this fire: “Our Disaster Action Team volunteers responded quickly to the incident to meet the immediate needs of the affected family. This support may include comfort and emotional care, financial assistance, access to health services and referrals to local resources to help them begin their recovery.” Officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office. ...read more read less
