LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — Classes will resume normally at a Lawrence middle school after a drunk driver crashed into the side of the building, leaving a large hole in a classroom. The accident happened just before 10 p.m. Sunday at Belzer Middle School off East 54th Street and Richardt Avenu e. When Lawrence Police Department officers arrived, they found that a car had crashed into an exterior wall of the school. No one was inside the vehicle or the building at the time. Police say, though they do not have any suspects, there was “evidence of alcohol consumption in the vehicle.” The structure was deemed safe by first responders on the scene. Dana Altemeyer, the director of communications for the MSD of Lawrence Township, told News 8 Monday morning classes would resume as normal.
