One driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant during a Chula Vista Police Department checkpoint this weekend, but no arrests were made for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, authorities said. The checkpoint was held from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday in the 1200 block of Eastlak e Parkway, according to the Chula Vista Police Department. Of the 3,009 vehicles that traveled through the checkpoint, 778 were screened. Three drivers were given a field sobriety test and five vehicles were impounded, the CVPD said in a statement. Of the 14 citations that were issued, eight were for unlicensed driving or driving with a suspended license. “DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes,” police said.
