Greenfieldnative Braylon Mullins to return to UConn for sophomore season

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Storrs is in store for even more Mullins mania.
Braylon Mullins, the freshman phenom from Greenfield, announced his return to UConn Saturday night on Instagram. A highlight video and graphic saying “I’m back” was posted with the caption “unfinished business.”
Mullins’ father Josh also reposted the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, saying “Connecticut are you READY … LETS GO HUSKIES”.
As just a freshman, Mullins was a key piece of the Huskies’ success this past season. Thanks to a few magical shots by Mullins, UConn reached the national championship game in Indianapolis before ultimately losing the title to Michigan.
In his first year under head coach Dan Hurley, Mullins averaged 12 points a game for the Huskies in his first collegiate season. He started 29 of the 33 games he played, shooting 33.5% from three-point range.
Mullins was a star at Greenfield-Central High School, being named both Indiana Mr. Basketball and a McDonalds All-American his senior year before heading to Storrs. One of the major recruiting points for UConn was getting Mullins back to his “hometown” of Indy for this year’s Final Four.
Mullins’ miracle shot in the final seconds of the Elite Eight game against top-seed Duke secured that spot. He had another 15 points against 3-seed Illinois in the Final Four to help UConn advance to its third national title game in four years.
