6 PM WEATHER WITH KEITH 4-17-26 A line of strong storms is expected to weaken as it moves into Indiana after midnight Friday night, but some strong storms are possible NW of Indianapolis. The weekend will be much cooler with some frost possible by Sunday night. FRIDAY NIGHT: A line of st rong storms will approach NW Indiana by midnight and then move deeper into the state during the overnight hours.  The threat of damaging wind gusts and a spin-up tornado or two are highest across NW Indiana through about 2-3 AM.  The severe threat should continue to wane as time goes on tonight and the overall severe threat for most of Central Indiana still appears on the lower side. Temperatures will probably stay in the 70s until rain/storms arrive at any one location then fall into the 60s.   SATURDAY: Areas of rain and thunder will continue to move across the region during the day but a gradual drying trend from NW to SE should take place.  Widespread 60s are likely during the first part of the day with 50s building in behind a cold front during the afternoon hours.  Breezes from the WNW at 10-20+ mph will make if feel cooler, especially after the warm and humid air we’ve had all week long.   SATURDAY NIGHT: A chilly night can be expected with lows in the low 40s and 30s.  While there is some frost potential, breezes may stay up just enough to limit a more widespread threat.  You may want to protect tender vegetation again, especially if you live in a low lying or sheltered spot.   SUNDAY: Look for a mix of sun clouds. Highs top out in the 50s.  A weak disturbance could produce a few showers but most of us will not have any sizeable rain.  Temperature dip into the 30s Sunday night leading to the threat of a widespread frost across Central Indiana.  7 DAY FORECAST: After the Monday morning frost threat, temperatures will gradually moderate and highs in the 70s (or warmer) should be the norm by Tuesday afternoon and beyond.  There is a chance of rain thunder on Wednesday and again later in the week.  The current expectations are that we should remain severe weather free for the majority of the work week. ...read more read less
