Lincoln Police Cruiser (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR Apr. 17)–Starting Friday through Monday, additional Lincoln Police officers will be deployed throughout the city to proactively address impaired driving and help keep our roads safe for the “Drive High, Get a DUI” enforcement campaign . Officers assigned to this enforcement detail have received advanced training in drug impairment detection and will be specifically focused on identifying impaired drivers, preventing crashes, and taking dangerous drivers off the road before someone gets hurt. This effort is made possible through grant funding provided by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office. LPD public information manager Erika Thomas says if you feel different, you drive different, regardless of drug impairment from marijuana, prescription drugs or other substances.  Plus reaction time, judgement and coordination get affected. All these significantly increase the risk of serious or fatal crashes. Driving under the influence of drugs carries the same legal consequences as alcohol impairment.   ...read more read less
