RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Nearly 11,000 people have been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) across the state of Virginia since President Donald Trump took office, new data shows. Between Trump's inauguration on Jan. 20, 2025 and March 10, ICE agents arrested 10,988 people in t he Commonwealth, according to the most recent ICE arrest data from the Data Deportation Project. 8News previously reported that ICE had made 6,610 arrests in Virginia between Trump's inauguration and Oct. 15, 2025. The agency ended 2025 with 8,969 arrests in Virginia and made another 2,019 in the first part of 2026. Nearly 100 children have been arrested by ICE in Virginia during this time, some of them as young as 2 years old. Almost half of them were 13 years old or younger. Just under 370 people were arrested on immigration violations by Virginia law enforcement as part of 287(g) agreements, which allow for local and state authorities to participate in ICE activities. While Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D) has since ended Virginia's state-level 287(g) agreements, several local agencies still have them. Majority of those arrested continue to be non-criminals, despite claims of rampant 'migrant crime' Despite the Trump administration's claims that undocumented immigrants commit crimes at high rates, 3 out of 4 of those arrested by ICE in Virginia since Trump's inauguration have never been convicted of a crime. Additionally, the overwhelming majority have no documented "ICE Threat Level," which means they have no criminal history. As of the time of reporting, Virginia ranks seventh nationally in total ICE arrests, as illustrated by the Immigration Enforcement Dashboard. It previously came in sixth place.
