CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte Water plans to implement voluntary water restrictions amid the ongoing drought. Beginning Monday, April 20, customers are asked to reduce their non-essential water use to help protect the area’s water supply. This includes: Limit outdoor watering to two days or les s per week odd-numbered addresses: Tuesday and Saturday even-numbered addresses: Wednesday and Sunday Avoid watering lawns during peak heat Limit watering to one inch per week Avoid washing hard surfaces, such as driveways, sidewalks, and streets Use commercial car washes or minimize car washing at home “Charlotte Water continuously monitors drought conditions and coordinates regionally through the Drought Management Advisory Group (DMAG), which includes local governments, water utilities, and resource managers working collaboratively to protect shared water resources, including the Catawba River and its connected lakes,” officials said in a news released Thursday. This is the driest year to date on record in the Queen City, running about 13 inches behind on rainfall.
