Thursday brings clouds and a few showers Thursday starts off mild with a mix of clouds across the region and temperatures already well into the 50s and 60s. Conditions stay quiet early, but a weakening line of showers will try to move in from the west through the morning hours. Rain chances look a bit spotty overall, especially across the Bluegrass, but a few scattered showers cannot be ruled out. By the afternoon, there may be enough breaks in the clouds to allow a few showers or storms to redevelop, mainly across eastern Kentucky. If anything manages to strengthen, the main concerns would be brief downpours, lightning, and some gusty winds. That said, most locations will not see much more than passing showers. Temperatures stay a bit cooler compared to recent days, topping out in the upper 70s. Mild Thursday night leads to a dry Friday Thursday night remains mild, with lows settling into the upper 50s and around 60. Skies partially clear at times, but attention turns to the southwest where another round of storms may develop. There is a small chance that some of this activity clips southern parts of the region overnight, but for most of central and eastern Kentucky, the night stays relatively quiet. By Friday, the warm pattern quickly returns. Sunshine builds back in, and southwest winds pick up, helping temperatures climb back into the mid to upper 80s across the region. It will feel much more like early summer again, especially during the afternoon with breezy conditions in place. Most areas stay dry through the day, though clouds will begin to increase late as the next system organizes to the west. Storms arrive Saturday with a sharp temperature drop Saturday is shaping up to be the most active day in this stretch. A strong cold front will move through the Ohio Valley, bringing a band of showers and thunderstorms across central and eastern Kentucky. Storms are most likely during the afternoon and evening. While instability looks somewhat limited, there will be enough wind energy in the atmosphere to support organized storms. Damaging wind gusts appear to be the main concern, especially in areas that can warm up a bit ahead of the front. Temperatures will start warm, reaching into the upper 70s to near 80 in eastern Kentucky, but once the front passes, conditions will change quickly. Winds shift to the northwest and temperatures fall sharply, dropping into the 50s by evening. Cooler air settles in Sunday and beyond Behind the front, a much cooler and drier air mass takes over. Sunday feels noticeably different, with highs struggling to reach the upper 50s in the Bluegrass. Clear skies and light winds Sunday night could allow temperatures to drop into the 30s, raising concerns for frost, especially in typical cooler valleys. Temperatures gradually rebound into the 60s on Monday and back into the 70s by the middle of next week, with mostly dry conditions returning and only a slight chance for showers by Wednesday.
