The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 8:42 p.m. on Wednesday for strong thunderstorms until 9:30 p.m. for Orange, Putnam and Westchester counties.The storms could bring pea-sized hail (0.25 inches) and wind gusts of up to 40 mph.
