Swick’s Creekside BBQ destroyed in early morning fire CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A barbecue restaurant was destroyed in an early morning fire in Crawfordsville, the fire department said. Swick’s Creekside BBQ, formerly known as Creekside Lodge, sits along Sugar Creek, about a three-q uarters of a mile northwest of the intersection of U.S. 136, U.S. 231, and state roads 32 and 47. The blaze was reported at 12:49 a.m. Tuesday, and firefighters arrived to find heavy fire extending through the roof. No one was hurt. Officials initially considered the fire to be unintentional. Joe and Candace Swick, Steve Tomamichel and the entire Swick Team released a statement on social media confirming their heartbreak over the loss. “While we are heartbroken to confirm that the building and its contents are a total loss… we are holding tight to what matters most — our people are safe and this community has already began wrapping its arms around us.” The Swick family announced that its downtown location, Swick’s Kitchen Emporium, will be closed for the week. All previously scheduled catering orders will be fulfilled as planned, with the exception of two lunches that were scheduled for Tuesday. “This is a difficult moment for our family and our team and we would deeply appreciate your prayers as we begin to process what comes next,” the family’s social media post said. “There will be a next chapter… we fully intend to rebuild — and while it’s hard to see it today, we believe there is a path forward to create something even more meaningful, built with intention from the ground up.” Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available. The Swick family intends to rebuild their restaurant. A fire was reported about 12:50 a.m. April 14, 2026, at Swick’s Creekside BBQ in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
