(CNN)– UPS is investing $100 million to make sure your packages don’t get lost.
Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the company announced it is phasing out its manual barcode scanning system.
In its place, package labels will be embedded with technology that uses radio frequencies.
That means, for examp
le, if a package is put on a wrong truck, radio sensors will automatically detect it and issue an alert.
It also means packages can be tracked in real time or close to it, rather than waiting for someone to scan it.
