The green jacket remains on the shoulders of Rory McIlroy. The 36-year-old from Northern Ireland won the Masters Tournament for the second consecutive year, becoming just the fourth golfer to do so, and the first in more than two decades. The now six-time major champion finished 12-under, sh ooting a 1-under 71 in the final round on Sunday to hold off runner-up Scottie Scheffler for a one-stroke victory at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. Young lost his two-shot lead much earlier with a long three-putt bogey on the par-3 sixth and taking bogey on the next hole when he hit wedge from the fairway into a bunker. One shot behind going to the back nine, Young closed with nine straight pars. McIlroy, after the second round, held a record six-stroke lead. He then shot a 73 in the third round, leaving nine players within six shots of McIlroy and co-leader Cameron Young by the of the day. On the 18th, he worked his way out of trouble on the 18th hole, through the trees and out of the sand, to tap in for bogey and secure the victory. McIlroy, who at last years Masters defeated Justin Rose in a playoff victory to complete the career Grand Slam, becomes the 19th golfer to have won the Masters on two or more occasions.
