The two right lanes of the eastbound SR-54 near the SR-125 intersection in Bonita were closed for hours following a deadly car crash. Video from the scene of the crash shows a tow truck and two other vehicles in flames emitting heavy smoke. The crash was reported just before 3:30 p.m. Saturday. A preliminary investigation indicates the tow truck driver had just finished loading a disabled vehicle onto the tow truck when a sedan traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into the tow truck and the vehicle it was carrying, according to CHP Sgt. Alexander Stirling. The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. CHP and the Medical Examiner are investigating.
