The weekend weather will be welcomed by gardeners and others in San Diego, with rain in the forecast off and on. Friday got off to a start with clouds and patchy fog, though, which then gave way to sunshine around the county. However, light showers will develop late Friday night into Saturday as a storm approaches. Despite starting Saturday with precipitation, the sun is expected to return in the afternoon. A stronger wave of moisture is expected from late Saturday night all the way into Monday with moderate rainfall, colder air and widespread rain. Any thunderstorms that develop could produce brief, heavier showers, lightning and small hail. Preliminary rainfall totals from both waves or wet weather look to be about a half inch, as of Friday morning The weekend is expected to be cooler, with temperatures dropping below normal. The coolest days will be Sunday and Monday, before we gradually warm up late week into next weekend. Light showers may linger into Monday, bringing the chance of additional rain as it slowly moves away.
