New River Walk doughnut tour launches in San Antonio
Apr 10, 2026
Were he in San Antonio, Homer Simpson is probably drooling right now. The Underground Donut Tour has launched, well, doughnut tours on the River Walk, part of a three city expansion in Texas. In a release, the company says it blends food and history in its roughly two-hour strolls. The bites aren’
t relegated to just donuts, incorporating pastries and other sweet treats. Austin gets a kolache stop, which seems like a good way to temper a tween sugar rush.Although the tour did not mention the sites in the release, its San Antonio booking page does offer some clues. The walk starts at Gunter Hotel’s Paris Baguette and ends at Paciugo Gelato. It also mentions a “beloved local bakery known for combining Mexican pan dulce traditions with classic French baking techniques.” (Ahem, La Panadería.)No actual doughnut shops are mentioned in the promo materials, but surely a detour to Voodoo Doughnut is warranted.Chicago entrepreneur Jeff Woelker founded the tour in 2015 as a fun side gig. Since then, the company says it has hosted guests in 25 cities in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. In addition to San Antonio and Austin, the tours are launching in Dallas.“We’re incredibly excited to launch our newest tours in Texas,” said Jeff Woelker, founder of the Underground Donut Tour. “Each of these cities and neighborhoods offers a unique blend of culture, history, and amazing food. We’ve curated experiences that highlight the best sweet treats while giving guests a fun and memorable way to explore these cities.”Tickets for the family friendly tour are $70 for adults and $60 for children 10 and under. Tickets can be booked online.
