According to a Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development news release, work has been planned for the Ascension Parish pavement markers replacement project along Interstate 10, which will include nearly 22 miles of highway.
The $2.61 million project includes removal of existing markings, pavement striping, raised pavement markers and related work, per the release.
The slow-moving single-lane closures are scheduled for Sunday, April 12, through Thursday, July 9 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights from the East Baton Rouge Parish line to the St. James Parish line.
DOTD advised motorists may experience delays due to the closures.
Emergency closure
DOTD also announced an emergency alternating lane closure to repair parts of Highway 405 in the Modeste area of Ascension Parish.
According to a release, the lane closures spanned from Highway 1 near Donaldsonville to the Ascension and Iberville parishes line.
Per the release, the alternating lane closure was set to continue through Friday, April 24 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. as crews addressed the pavement failure.
The area has gained traffic as trucks have been traveling the route as pre-construction work has begun at the Hyundai Steel mill and CF Industries sites.
DOTD upcoming closures
DOTD announced several other upcoming closures in the area, including:
A northbound single lane closure along Highway 73/Old Jefferson Highway, around 500 feet south of Highway 30 to around 300 feet north of Sam Baker Drive, taking place Monday, April 20, through Thursday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The closure is necessary to replace 12 power poles along Highway 73.
Intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures along Highway 938/West New River Street/Coontrap Road, from the split to Tucker Road, taking place Sunday, April 19, through Thursday, April 23, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The closure is needed to replace 56 power poles along Highway 938.
Intermittent east and west lane closures along Highway 30 west of Williams Road, taking place Wednesday, April 15 through Thursday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Crews will replace power poles along Highway 30.
Intermittent north and south lane closures along Highway 75 from Smith Street to Point Clair Road, taking place Wednesday, April 15 through Thursday, April 30 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The closure is necessary to replace power poles.
Eastbound lane closure along Highway 30 from Browne Drive to Geigy Access Road, taking palce Wednesday, April 15, through Thursday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Crews will replace 38 power poles along Highway 30.
