Rep. Eric Swalwell cancels town hall in Palm Desert

(KRON) -- Bay Area Congressional representative and candidate for governor, Eric Swalwell, canceled a planned town hall in Palm Desert on Thursday, KRON4.com has confirmed.
A representative from the candidate tells KRON4 that Swalwell was sick and had to cancel the event.

ines after accusations of inappropriate behavior with female staffers recently surfaced. A spokesperson for Swalwell’s campaign called the allegations a “false, outrageous rumor” spread shortly before the primary election.

However, none of the insinuations have been explicitly stated, and no news outlets, including KRON4, have verified any allegations.
Swallwell is set to participate in a California gubernatorial debate in San Francisco later this month. KRON4 and parent company Nexstar will host a California gubernatorial debate on April 22, airing across the state on stations from San Francisco to San Diego.
According to a recent Emerson College Poll, Swalwell leads all candidates with 17.3% support for the June primary.
