PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- A Petersburg drug trafficker will spend a decade in prison for selling illegal drugs, including fentanyl, out of his home. On Thursday, April 9, 45-year-old Jawara Tyrone Williams was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the distribution and possession with the intent to di stribute both methamphetamine and a mixture of heroin and fentanyl, per a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). Between August and October 2024, law enforcement conducted a series of controlled transactions from Williams. According to court documents, Williams sold these illegal drugs out of his residence in Petersburg. Williams reportedly had a handgun on him during one of these transactions. However, as a previously convicted felon, Williams cannot legally possess firearms or ammunition.
