(KRON) -- On Tuesday, Bay Area Congressional Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Santa Clara), called for President Donald Trump’s removal from office by invoking the 25th Amendment.
“How can you be in office when you are threatening to wipe out a civilization? How can you be in office when you're threatening
genocide that goes against every value Americans have,” Khanna asked. “How can you be in office when you've engaged in so much corruption?"

Khanna says removing Trump from office is getting traction in the House but will be an uphill battle since the Vice President and two thirds of the Cabinet need to sign off, but he’s not backing down.
“We're also looking at impeachment, which would require just the majority of the House and two thirds of the Senate,” Khanna said. “So, we need to look at all options to hold this president accountable,” he said
The South Bay Congressman spoke about Trump and the war in Iran Thursday afternoon, after touring Overfelt Gardens Park where he’s secured over a million dollars of federal funding for the San Jose water restoration project.
“The war has been a disaster. We've spent billions of dollars in Iran,” Khanna said. “The money should be coming home to do things like park restoration and paying for childcare and jobs and health care.”
Khanna is hopeful the ceasefire holds and all side will stop the bombing. He’s also hopeful the Strait of Hormuz can stay open and ultimately bring the price of gas in this country down.
