Launch your future at Explore CCBC: Health Care Programs
Apr 09, 2026
Between the School of Health Professions and Continuing Education Health Care programs, CCBC offers more than 35 programs that make it easy for students to launch or grow their careers in the health care industry. Programs range from dental hygiene to nursing, emergency medical services, phlebo
tomy, mortuary science (the only one of its kind in Maryland) and much more.
CCBC’s top-notch facilities and clinical internships give health care students the training they need to excel in their chosen fields.
“We have a fully functioning clinic on campus,” says CCBC alumna Rachel Heiler, who received her associate degree in veterinary technology in 2025. “With a veterinarian present, we do full physical exams, give vaccines, monitor anesthesia during surgeries and use electronic medical records just like in a real office.”
CCBC students can also expect expert instruction from faculty invested in their success.
“When our students leave CCBC, they hit the ground running,” adds Instructional Specialist Karen Bordenet, who teaches histotechnology and medical laboratory technology. “They know what they’re doing, and we’re really proud of that.”
Flexible classes are another major reason why health care students choose CCBC.
“I love the fact that there are multiple ways you can take classes — daytime, nighttime, weekends — and starting at different times of the year,” notes Amber Hinson, who received her Polysomnographic (Sleep) Technologist Continuing Education Workforce Certificate from CCBC and is now a student in CCBC’s Nursing program. “Knowing that you can look at your schedule at home and make your classes fit is a great way to be able to say, ‘this is really doable.'”
CCBC’s affordability also empowers students to achieve their goals.
“CCBC came through with a tuition-free scholarship for me,” Hinson continues. “I don’t think that I would be here if it weren’t for that scholarship.”
