Marcus’ 4 a.m. Thursday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Central Indiana will see a mix of breezy and warm conditions today, with increasing rain chances for Friday.
Breezy and Dry Today
Quiet weather remains in place for Thursday across Central Indiana as a slow-moving cold front linger
s to the north. High temperatures will top out in the mid to upper 70s, with wind gusts ranging between 20 and 30 mph during the day.
With low humidity levels, there is an elevated fire risk, especially given some of the stronger wind gusts. Outdoor burning is discouraged through the day today.
Almost all of the region should stay dry. A few spotty showers are possible across far northern counties late this afternoon and evening.
Showers Arrive Late Tonight into Friday
The cold front will finally push through Central Indiana overnight tonight and continue moving through the area on Friday. This will bring numerous showers, along with a few isolated thunderstorms at times.
Rainfall amounts are expected to remain under a half inch in most areas. Severe weather is not anticipated.
High temperatures will be a bit cooler, topping out in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Dry and Warm Weekend Ahead
High pressure will build in behind the cold front on Friday, bringing a stretch of dry and pleasant weather for the weekend. High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 60s on Saturday. We’ll be on the back side of the high on Sunday, which should push temperatures close to 80° to wrap up the weekend.
Active Pattern Returns Next Week
The quiet weather won’t last long. A more active pattern is expected to develop early next week as a southwest flow returns to the region.
Periodic chances for showers and thunderstorms will return starting Monday and continue through midweek. Temperatures will remain well above average, topping out in the mid to upper 70s.
