SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- After weeks of mostly dry weather, rain is forecast to return to the Bay Area on Thursday, possibly lasting through the weekend. As of Wednesday, rain totals are trending up, according to the National Weather Service. Thursday and Friday is expected to bring beneficial rain showers with more widespread rain on Saturday and Sunday. Isolated thunderstorms will also be possible, according to the NWS. The heaviest rainfall is expected in Santa Cruz where between an inch-and-a-half and two inches could fall. The NWS is warning of ponding and slick roadways and possible localized flooding.
