Fire crews also pulled a man from the burning home along the 200 block of Jeffrey Street i
n Chester around 2:26 a.m. on April 8 and he was hospitalized in critical condition, officials said.
According to Chester Fire Commissioner John Paul Shirley, fire crews were faced with “hoarding conditions” inside the home while the man was trapped on the second floor.
“The challenge with hoarding conditions is that the building is packed with stuff. It’s difficult to move inside,” Shirley said. “It just makes the job ten times harder”
Firefighters found “extensive damage throughout the building,” Shirley said.
The fire was placed under control around 4 a.m., officials told NBC10.
An investigation into the cause and origin of the fire is underway.
