A 13-year-old was killed and a 14-year-old was hurt following a double shooting in the West Oak Lane neighborhood of Philadelphia on Tuesday night, police said.
The shooting occurred at around 8:45 p.m. at the 7100 block of North 19th Street, police said.
The 13-year-old suffered multiple gu
nshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the hospital at around 9:20 p.m., police said.
The 14-year-old is listed as in stable but critical condition at the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
No suspects are in custody and no motives have been determined, but it is believed that the shooting occurred after an altercation at a makeshift basketball court, police said.
It is unclear how many people were involved in the incident at this time, but around 15 to 20 spent shell casings were found at the crime scene, police said.
“That suggests that there might have been more than one person shooting,” Philadelphia Police Inspector DF Pace said.
No weapons have been recovered, police said.
Anyone with any information on the incident is urged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or anonymously online here.
