Screaming naked man with shotgun arrested at Tesla service center in Berkeley

(KRON) -- A naked man was arrested in Berkeley Monday morning after barging into a Tesla service center with a shotgun. According to the Berkeley Police Department, officers responded to several calls about a naked man with an object in his hand running down the street smashing windows.

fficers were en route, callers reported that the man had entered the Tesla Service Center at 901 Gilman Street and was carrying a shotgun. Officers arrived on the scene and were forming a perimeter around the building when the man burst out of the front of building carrying a shotgun and screaming, police said.

Officers commanded the man to stop, but he continued charging at one of the officers. As the man approached, the officer took cover behind a barrier or pillar.
When the man got close, the officer behind the pillar tackled him. Several other officers then helped restrain the man in handcuffs.
Officers seized the shotgun and obtained a gun violence restraining order for the man and a search warrant for his property. Inside the suspect's property, a warehouse on the 1300 block of Eighth Street, officers found evidence suggesting that the shotgun had been fired inside several times.

The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Edward Teece, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and willfully discharging a firearm in a negligent manner.
"We are thankful that no one was injured and we are grateful for all the people who called to report the suspect's location so that officers could quickly take the man into custody," Berkeley PD told KRON4.
