(KRON) -- The body of a 5-year-old boy was recovered Monday in Northern California after he went into Shasta Lake without a life jacket and disappeared underwater, according to authorities. The boy’s parents were unable to get the child out of the lake and put on his life jacket before he went un der, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies, along with personnel from Cal Fire, U.S. Forest Service and California Highway Patrol Air Operations, responded at 11:22 a.m. to the reported drowning at Turntable Bay. More than an hour later, at 12:33 p.m., the boy’s body was located and recovered by the Shasta County Dive Team.
